The best things in Detroit tend to be the ones locals keep to themselves. But for Lisa Ludwinski, the mastermind behind Sister Pie, the big-hearted bakery on Detroit’s east side, word has gotten way out……

Step forward to Sister Pie, Lisa’s new cookbook, releasing October 2.

Previously trained at New York’s Milk Bar and Brooklyn’s Four and Twenty Blackbirds, and gloriously featured in Bon Appetit and The New York Times, today Lisa and her band of Sister Pie bakers fuse together sweet and savory recipes that are nontraditional in flavor and rustic in execution, with a nod to the abundant agriculture of Michigan. 

Enter Chef Kate Williams into this mix, and we have a delicious lovechild to share on Tuesday, October 9th that promises tables laden with energy as Lisa personally introduces her new book, shares stories of pie-making and community, while Chef Kate Williams prepares courses inspired by the recipes and flavors in the Sister Pie cookbook.

Each savory course will be followed by a small dessert taken straight from the book’s pages. The evening will be fall-forward with lots of squash, apples, and warm Michigan flavors.  Seriously…..What more can we ask for? 

Sister Pie, the book, is available for pre-sale ($25) when you purchase dinner tickets and Lisa will be signing personal copies at the end of the evenings. 

Illustrated with Ludwinski’s charming line drawings and 75 of her most loved recipes, including forty-five sweet-and-savory pies and thirty other fan favorites, the pages of this new book published by Ten Speed Press inspires through the surprising flavor profiles and heartfelt whimsy.

We also partner up with a variety of brands on events of all different shapes and sizes, offering up top-notch food and drink and creative in-house production. frame can seat up to 50 guests dining or 80 guests, theater-style.
