Frame & FRAMEbar > About > Our Story

Frame’s mission is to celebrate, nurture, and honor chefs, farmers, authors, artisans, growers, winemakers, mixologists and other culinary leaders in the restaurant and bar world. We seek out the best and brightest talent — forward-thinking makers, chefs, and those deeply devoted to their craft — and provide them the framework and support to succeed in our editorially curated spaces.

Since opening our doors in 2017, Frame's creative hub has been home to an ever-changing lineup of culturally rich dinners, guest collaborations, workshops, book events, wine tastings and more. No two days or weeks are exactly the same at Frame, but tickets are always required to attend.

FRAMEbar is the counter-part to Frame, bringing fine-fast drinking & eating front and center, without the need to pre-purchase tickets or even make reservations. (Though they're still recommended.)

FRAMEbar provides a similar editorially curated experience to Frame in a more casual setting. Chefs take over our front space for an entire monthlong residency with their interpretation on a rotating small plates bar menu, transforming FRAMEbar into a new kind of experience each time, accompanied by curated cocktails and hand-selected wines by the bottle & by the glass from Frame’s sommelier.

The Frame Pavilion is our flexible, all-seasons tented backlot events space, complete with a dedicated bar, shipping container kitchen outfitted with a wood- & gas-fired oven, and plenty of space to lounge and catch a movie or other live entertainment while you nosh on snacks in our most casual setting. Have a large group you’d like to gather? Drop us a line at hello@framehazelpark.com to inquire about private event bookings.

Frame, FRAMEbar, and the Frame Pavilion are the brainchild of Cari and Joe Vaughn, drawing on their experiences of 25+ years working and producing hospitality shoots for commercial clients, national magazines, chefs, and art directors from around the country.

Joe, a photographer / cinematographer based in metro Detroit, has been capturing images nationally and internationally for over 25 years. Recent projects include working with Coca-Cola, HBO, The Food Network, Sports Illustrated, New York Times, and Time Magazine.

Cari is a NY Fashion Institute of Technology graduate, former Detroit editor for Condé Nast (Lucky Magazine), former syndicated Detroit News columnist, and helms new business, client activation, and photo shoot production for the photography world.
