A Handmade Tamale Workshop
Chef Michael Barrera
We love two things at frame: fresh masa and a hands-on party.
So take one part Chef Michael Barrera, one part traditional Mexican heritage, one part classic corn husks, one part banana leaf wrappers, one part learning how to fill and fold tamales, one part understanding which types of fillings work well, and we’ve got a March tamale-making workshop, called a “Tamaladas” you won’t want to miss.
You’ll leave not only with killer tamale-making skills, recipes, and tamales to take home but also some serious Abuela knowledge.
Tuesday, March 3rd
$67 per person + tax and service fee
Each workshop is limited to 20 guests
A two-hour Tamale workshop held by Chef Michael Barrera with lots of chef Q&A time, recipes to take home plus 4 Tamales — 2 corn wrapped and 2 banana leaf-wrapped and 1 cup of salsa casera for a midnight snack.

What are people saying?
“Tried out frame as part of the ‘grandma’s basement series’ with Chef James (Mabel Gray) and Chef John (Grey Ghost). Our Italian Family Dinner was delicious! Enjoyed every course (which kept coming). Best meatballs I’ve ever had!! Love the idea of home Cookin with a little flare, shared Family style with strangers. A wonderful evening!”

“The vibe at the Frame dinners also reflected the personalities of the chefs, who were able to interact with guests and offer stories about their food memories while cooking rustic dishes without the same expectations that come with their respective restaurants. The food was predictably great and unpretentious, but the series also highlighted the growing importance of personality and storytelling to the modern dining experience.”
