presents
Taste of Oaxaca
with
Chef Amado Lopez
of
Casa Amado Taqueria
at
the patio @ frame
and
frame @ home

We continue our fun-loving Casa Amado takeover with Week Two, bringing a Taste of Oaxaca by Chef Amado Lopez to the patio @ frame and for frame @ home.

We’ve halved the number of guests and are opening up each seating a bit earlier for you to join us with a casual drink before dinner outside in the fresh air. Think spicy pineapple mezcal margaritas, chilled bottles of dry crisp bubbles, mole oaxaqueño, authentic Huarache (oval corn-masa cakes) and a wildly-light cornhusk meringue to round out your experience.

Plenty of options for vegetarians, we’re sort of going loco for this week’s menu. So grab a friend you haven’t seen in a while, and dapple in the sunlight with us …
Oaxaca style.

Keeping true to our frame experiences, prepare to meet: Chef Amado Lopez. Spend a few minutes with this charismatic, super-talented Chef that began his culinary career in Charlie Trotter’s kitchen in Chicago, and you’ll quickly see why Trotter immediately recognized Amado’s genius and sent him to the CIA on a full scholarship from the Charlie Trotter Foundation.

From here, it was training under Chef Shawn McClain at his restaurants Spring, Green Zebra, and Custom House And getting closer to his true epicurean Mexican passion, it was five years side by side with Chef Rick Bayless, where he traveled to Mexico on culinary tours with Bayless, worked at Topolobampo, developed recipes and opened Xoco. Which then led to helming his own taqueria, Habanero, in the financial district of downtown Chicago.

We’re beyond excited for you all to meet. Please know that with our ever-continuous changing climate, you can always exchange your tickets for frame @ home, on the day of your scheduled Taste of Oaxaca experience. But if you eat at home, you might not get a proper Amado introduction this time around. Either way, we’ll love to feed you with this deliciosa meal.

What are people saying?

Megan

“Tried out frame as part of the ‘grandma’s basement series’ with Chef James (Mabel Gray) and Chef John (Grey Ghost). Our Italian Family Dinner was delicious! Enjoyed every course (which kept coming). Best meatballs I’ve ever had!! Love the idea of home Cookin with a little flare, shared Family style with strangers. A wonderful evening!”

What are people saying?

Mark Kurlyandchik, Detroit Free Press

“The vibe at the Frame dinners also reflected the personalities of the chefs, who were able to interact with guests and offer stories about their food memories while cooking rustic dishes without the same expectations that come with their respective restaurants. The food was predictably great and unpretentious, but the series also highlighted the growing importance of personality and storytelling to the modern dining experience.”
