Setting the bar for crave-worthy food, superb cocktails, a deep wine list, and the ultimate early boozy farm summer treat… cue FRAMEbar’s next up residency: farmBAR, a month-long shared plates concept solely focusing on Michigan farmers, ranchers and growers who power our good food community, led by Grand Rapids-based chef, philosopher, and community organizer, Evan Edwards, PhD, moving in for the month of June, creating something that’s marvelously satisfying.
Expect your farmhouse experience to start the moment you are seated. Pop in our open-air dimly lit bougie side-yard patio for house-made udon and a drink… or plan a convivial dinner with friends ( think handmade pasta and lamb shoulder with chimichurri and dukkah )inside our modern lush farmBAR. Creating an immersive experience to nourish your senses with vintage woods and minimalistic bleached natural textures to go with this residency that centers around the central hub of the farm.
We’re talking seriously amazing vegetables from incredible humans cultivating small plots of land and the highest quality of produce that travels the least miles possible to our tables (within 75 miles of us) alongside ethically raised local meats from Frame’s favorite butcher, Marrow Detroit.
Plan on bottles upon bottles of wine by the glass or bottle from producers of Old Mission, Leelanau, Fennville, and the Lake Michigan Shore. As well as a shaken and stirred local-and-wild cocktail bar takeover by Adam Accivatti and the FRAMEbar team of alchemists. We insist you try ‘The Farmhouse Flip’ with Weiss Distilling royal rum, Blakes “rainbow seeker” pineapple cider reduction, and locally sourced raw whole egg. And/or the ‘Maize in Michigan’ with DCD butcher’s bourbon, amaro meletti, nixta licor de elote and lemon.
We think of these residencies as month-long parties, hand selected by us, for you. And farmBAR has a distinct personality and vibe all its own. Not to miss on Evan’s hyper-seasonal menu: smoked carrots on their greens with yogurt sauce, pickled hot peppers, and sesame; tender Marrow-sourced and butchered lamb shoulder with rhubarb agridolce and bright chimichurri; barbecue vegetable sambousek stuffed with pecans and sorghum chili sauce; a beatiful beet panisse with dukkah; and chicken wings with charred garlic scapes, spicy Ras El Hanout, and cool mint aioli. Yum!
Hosting the hands that feed us by continuing our core mission of building Michigan food connections…
