Learn the Art of Sourdough with Baker Maxwell Leonard (Frame Summer School)
You may have already swooned over Maxwell Leonard‘s wildly fab bread and not even known it. The not-so-secret baker began baking in his home while working front-of-house at Detroit’s Chartreuse and collaborated on the opening of Ochre Bakery.
After years of travel, including culinary adventures from France to America’s wine country, Maxwell nows calls our beloved community home, directing his focus on his longstanding love affair with fermented foods —
specifically to what is arguably the most forgotten fermented food: bread.
Bringing a much-anticipated sourdough bread masterclass to our Summer Academy, Maxwell will teach the basic fundamentals of sourdough. Enjoy steamed sourdough buns and leave with a piece of Maxwell’s sourdough starter to take home and make your own bread.
Eat a little, and learn a ton.
And consider a new weekly ritual of buying bread from Ferndale’s coveted, not-so-secret baker.
