Argentine Dinner Party (& HRD Preview!)
Chef Emmele Herrold

Famed Dynamic Duo, Chef Emmele Herrold and Beth Hussey (You know them from their past successes ++ One-Eyed Betty’s and Pop’s For Italian) have broken off to create their own vision at the gateway to Birmingham, the corner of Maple and Woodward. A new venture called Hazel, Ravines & Downtown (aka HRD) is expected to be the “go to” local hangout for all food cravings. Currently in construction, we couldn’t wait to see what they have cooked up, so Emmele and Beth have graciously agreed to treat us to a small part of the future menu, Argentine food.  Chef Emmele speaks of it’s simplicity.  The Asado; especially, is cooking in its simplest form: fire for heat.  There is beauty in fire and it always amazes Emmele what it can create with a little control and discipline from a trusting cook.  South American food; in whole, is under represented in Detroit, Emmele wants to be the one to showcase it in all it’s glory.  Her sister married in to an Argentinian family, and with this marriage, came culture and dishes that she can’t wait to bring to HRD (along with many other regions/countries that she connects with)

Frame welcomes Chef Emmele and Beth to Hazel Park for an Argentine Dinner party.  Be ready for this one.  Chef has been excited to cook for you and we’re exited to eat. See you there.

What are people saying?

“Tried out frame as part of the ‘grandma’s basement series’ with Chef James (Mabel Gray) and Chef John (Grey Ghost). Our Italian Family Dinner was delicious! Enjoyed every course (which kept coming). Best meatballs I’ve ever had!! Love the idea of home Cookin with a little flare, shared Family style with strangers. A wonderful evening!”

“The vibe at the Frame dinners also reflected the personalities of the chefs, who were able to interact with guests and offer stories about their food memories while cooking rustic dishes without the same expectations that come with their respective restaurants. The food was predictably great and unpretentious, but the series also highlighted the growing importance of personality and storytelling to the modern dining experience.”
