Chef Omar Anani of Saffron De Twah

If you’re into Moroccan culture, raucous music, bohemian decor, and French and Spanish flavors, Chef Omar Anani isn’t just your guy,
he’s … the guy.

As a classically French-trained chef that’s half Egyptian and half Palestinian, to Omar ( and luckily for all-of-us) it made complete sense to bring Moroccan fare to Detroit’s Eastside with coveted food truck, now turned, brick and mortar, Saffron De Twah.

Bringing beautiful plating and old school flavor, Omar makes frame his home kitchen to share knock-out, home-made signature dishes of shakshouka, shared clay tagines with braised lamb, chermoula vegetable couscous, farmers salad and a traditional Moroccan chickpea lentil stew served with dates and lemons…
The result – a totally new style that demands our attention. Omar, we’ll be ready for you!

Megan

“Tried out frame as part of the ‘grandma’s basement series’ with Chef James (Mabel Gray) and Chef John (Grey Ghost). Our Italian Family Dinner was delicious! Enjoyed every course (which kept coming). Best meatballs I’ve ever had!! Love the idea of home Cookin with a little flare, shared Family style with strangers. A wonderful evening!”

“The vibe at the Frame dinners also reflected the personalities of the chefs, who were able to interact with guests and offer stories about their food memories while cooking rustic dishes without the same expectations that come with their respective restaurants. The food was predictably great and unpretentious, but the series also highlighted the growing importance of personality and storytelling to the modern dining experience.”
