Samesa Sundays
Chef Max Sussman

For many of us Chef Max Sussman needs no introduction. From Huntington Woods, Max has been named 30 under 30 by Zagat and Forbes Magazine and has been nominated as James Beard Rising Star. He held post as chef de cuisine at Brooklyn’s trendy Roberta’s and co-owns Samesa in Williamsburg Brooklyn with his brother Eli Sussman (along with whom he’s authored 4 popular cookbooks which the cool kids covet.)

Now, bringing his creative spirit and culinary secret weapons back home, Max is taking up residence at frame with three Samesa Sundays sold as Season Tickets getting us through winter. One in February, one in March and a third in April…3 wildly different menus featuring Mediterranean influences and incorporating lots of seasonal ingredients.

Think yuzu-infused lentil soup, smoked Moroccan lamb shoulder, beet horseradish tzatziki, grilled Moroccan short rib, tahini-honey ice cream, chickpea seitan, black garlic hummus, matbucha, sourdough za’atar flatbread, and Samesa pickles.. offered as a 3 part series.

The results are as interactive-ly fun and every bit as good as they sound …

What are people saying?

“Tried out frame as part of the ‘grandma’s basement series’ with Chef James (Mabel Gray) and Chef John (Grey Ghost). Our Italian Family Dinner was delicious! Enjoyed every course (which kept coming). Best meatballs I’ve ever had!! Love the idea of home Cookin with a little flare, shared Family style with strangers. A wonderful evening!”

What are people saying?

Mark Kurlyandchik, Detroit Free Press

“The vibe at the Frame dinners also reflected the personalities of the chefs, who were able to interact with guests and offer stories about their food memories while cooking rustic dishes without the same expectations that come with their respective restaurants. The food was predictably great and unpretentious, but the series also highlighted the growing importance of personality and storytelling to the modern dining experience.”
